We have a total of about 25,000 square meters of production area ranging from framing to packing sections. Each satellite factories of Duru’s has products of expertise ranging from furniture products to lighting products made of wood, metal and rattan frames combined with indigenous fibers available in the Philippines.
Raw materials of indigenous fibers are stored in a dry place to preserve it is quality. Before its being stored, each fiber is being treated with chemicals to prevent fungi or mold formation on the finished goods. Maximum life storage for raw fibers is around 30 days prior to weaving to finished products; otherwise, it will become brittle. Spraying with lead free top coat finish on finished goods will lock its quality and maintain strength.
In our raw materials preparation area, we have several machines to process raw material particularly rattan or bamboo products. Above photo shows wickering machine which is used in processing rattan pole to several strands of wicker - which is used as woven material of the basket.
Several areas of the production process are also inside our factories and sanding areas are one of those. The sanding section is designed to smoothen and clean all rough surfaces of wood, metal and natural fibers so that it will be in top quality before finishing.
Our factory has a separate wood working area which has a built in dust collector to prevent the dust fumes spreading in the factory. Our factory is equipped with wood working machineries which have capabilities to produce components for chairs, tables, cabinets and other case goods.
We have several “waterfall type” finishing conveyors which are common in the furniture and Baskets industry. Our skilled finishing workers are well trained and equipped with safety gadgets in spraying every piece of furniture we produce inside our factory.
Our quality assurance team is structured per production process and each of our staff is well experienced and knowledgeable of all aspects of products they are inspecting. Our independent QA team is reporting directly to the Vice President of the Company to ensure that quality concerns are addressed to the highest authority of the Company.
Our in house weaving area consists of experienced and very skilled weavers. These weavers are also assigned in training unskilled workers to weave like them. Weaving forms a very big part of our production because all the products we produce are almost 100% handmade.
For metal treatment, we are using primer epoxy and powder coating to prevent the rust from growing in every single piece of metal frames we manufacture. Aside from this treatment, we can also do powder coating process where we subcontract outside of our factories.
Dyeing process and gluing process are also done in some of the raw materials that we used. We have consultants/chemists from different government agencies to assist us in analyzing our raw materials for this process. Gluing process is normally done when each basket is dipped in the basin with white glue to stiffen the fibers making it strong and durable in quality.
